Valtra G5 forestry protection

Valtra G5 Forestry Protection: The Real Cost of a Damaged Cab

One impact, two risks: safety and downtime

Picture a cold morning on a thinning job. The Valtra G5 is pulling timber with a rear winch, deep in a tight stand. A dry branch snaps loose and comes down across the rear window.

The first thought goes to the person in the cab. In the forest, a hit to the cab is a safety risk before it is a repair bill. The operator needs a cab that keeps branches and falling debris out.

Then comes the cost. A broken window sounds like a small repair, but the glass is the cheapest part. You cannot safely keep working in freezing temperatures with a shattered cab. The tractor is grounded on the spot and has to be driven out to the road.

Now the costs pile up. The operator’s wages keep running. A mobile mechanic has to be called out. The billable hauling waits. One branch can cost far more than the price of the glass.

For a contractor, the machine only earns when it runs, and the operator only works well when they feel safe. That is why cab protection is not an extra. It protects your people and keeps the work moving.

Where a farm-spec cab meets the forest

A modern tractor cab is built for a wide range of work. In the field, the main risks come from the front and the ground.

The forest is different. Branches hang low and whip back. Debris falls from above while timber is winched and loaded. Rocks and stumps hit the underside. Hits can come from every side at once.

That calls for protection built for forestry from the start. Not as a replacement for the tractor’s own design, but as a layer of steel around it.

The JAKE protection package for the Valtra G5

The JAKE Cabin Cage is now available for the Valtra G5. Together with the Window Screens, Hood Cover, Cable Set and Underbody Armour, it protects the tractor from roof to underbody.

JAKE Cabin Cage

Tubular steel protection around the roof and the cabin, with roof protection against falling objects. The G5 version has its own design:

  • The cage reaches all the way down to the tractor chassis.
  • It covers the rear lights.
  • The rear working lights sit outside the mesh, under the rear roof protection.

JAKE Window Screen Set

Steel nets for the rear and rear-side windows. The mesh is designed in alignment with ISO 8084 to stop objects entering from the rear and sides. On the G5, the rear mesh follows the edge of the rear wheel fender.

The Cabin Cage and Window Screens are ordered together for the G5.

JAKE Hood Cover

Protects the nose, hood and headlights from branches. It opens very easily, so routine maintenance stays quick.

JAKE Hood Cover Cable Set

Protective cables run from the roof to the front. They guide low branches away from the windscreen before they reach the glass.

JAKE Underbody Armour

Armour for the underside of a G5 with a plastic fuel tank. It protects the tractor’s vulnerable parts from rocks and debris. Service hatches allow smaller jobs without removing the whole armour. On G models, the JAKE engine armour is ordered with it to protect the engine and PTO shaft from below.

Built around the tractor, not into it

JAKE protection bolts on. Nothing permanent is done to the tractor.

  • Heavy-duty build. The frame is heavy tube, bent to shape. The mesh is laser-cut.
  • Easy to install. The system is modular, with easy-to-handle parts. It ships compact on a pallet.
  • Clear view. The design keeps view obstruction to a minimum.
  • Maintenance stays simple. The Hood Cover lifts with the hood, and the underbody armour has service hatches.

Every JAKE design follows the same JAKE Standard engineering protocol. It is backed by 40 years of R&D and experience on mounting and protection products, with full warranty and service support and optional on-site installation.

Protect the value of your G5

A tractor is an investment, and one day it will be sold or traded in. Glass, panels and the underside all show the years of forest work.

JAKE protection takes the hits instead of the factory cab. Because it bolts on with nothing permanent done to the machine, the tractor underneath stays in better shape. That helps keep its resale value high.
